Your First Search
Zero's search is different. It intelligently routes your query to the right data source—blockchain lookups, web search, AI conversations, or token prices—automatically. Just ask naturally.
The Search Bar
The search bar is the primary interface for everything in Zero. It accepts natural language queries and determines the best way to answer them using the Intents Classifier.
Example 1: Token Price Lookup
Let's start simple. Type this into the search bar:
What is the price of NEAR?What Happens
- Zero's Intents Classifier detects this is a **token price query**
- Fetches real-time price data for NEAR token
- Displays current price in USD, 24h change, market cap, and volume
- Shows a mini price chart if available
You can also be more casual:
NEAR price
How much is NEAR?
$NEAR
Price of NEAR tokenAll of these work. Zero understands variations and synonyms.
Example 2: Wallet Lookup
Want to see someone's wallet balance or portfolio? Just paste the address:
alice.nearWhat You Get
- NEAR token balance
- All fungible token holdings with USD values
- Total portfolio value
- NFT collections owned
- Recent transaction history
Works with both named accounts (alice.near) and implicit addresses (64-character hex).
Example 3: Web Search
Zero also functions as a private web search engine. Try searching for current information:
Mexican restaurants PhiladelphiaWhat Happens
- Zero detects this is a web search query (not blockchain-specific)
- Searches the internet privately without tracking your IP or building a profile
- Returns relevant web results with snippets and links
- No ads, no tracking, no personalization bubbles
Web searches work for any topic, not just crypto:
How to deploy Docker containers
Best practices for React hooks
Latest news about AI regulationsExample 4: AI Conversation
Ask Zero's AI to explain concepts, analyze data, or answer questions:
Explain sharding in NEAR ProtocolWhat You Get
A comprehensive explanation drawing from:
- NEAR's technical documentation (via NEAR Expert Mode)
- General blockchain knowledge
- Context about why sharding matters for scalability
- Comparisons to other approaches if relevant
The AI maintains conversation context, so you can ask follow-ups:
You: "Explain sharding in NEAR Protocol"
AI: [Explains Nightshade sharding...]
You: "How does that compare to Ethereum?"
AI: [Compares NEAR and Ethereum sharding approaches...]
You: "What are the tradeoffs?"
AI: [Discusses security, complexity, throughput tradeoffs...]Example 5: Token Swap
Execute a token swap by asking Zero to swap for you:
Swap 10 NEAR to USDCWhat Happens
- Zero detects this is a swap request
- Determines the best route (Ref Finance for NEAR-USDC)
- Fetches a real-time quote with exchange rate and fees
- Displays minimum received amount after slippage
- Prepares the transaction for your approval
- You review and sign in your wallet
Example 6: Transaction Lookup
View detailed information about a specific transaction:
FkqMjCdYqEvR4xDXEvB8E81d9brCZAvwLKbizFiWqHmrWhat You See
- Transaction status (success/failure)
- Block height and timestamp
- Signer and receiver accounts
- Gas used and costs
- All actions in the transaction (transfers, function calls, etc.)
- Logs and receipts
You can also ask the AI to explain it:
Explain this transaction: FkqMjCdYqEvR4xDXEvB8E81d9brCZAvwLKbizFiWqHmrExample 7: Sentiment Analysis (Aura Mode)
Check market sentiment and social signals with Aura Mode. First, activate Aura by clicking the brain toggle button, then ask:
What's the sentiment around NEAR on Twitter? What You Get
- Overall sentiment score (bullish, neutral, bearish)
- Social volume and discussion trends
- Key topics and narratives
- Influencer activity and mentions
- Comparison to historical sentiment
You can also ask about broader market psychology:
Show me the crypto Fear & Greed index
What's trending in crypto today?
Compare Bitcoin and Ethereum sentimentSearch Tips
Be Specific for Better Results
- ❌ Vague: "Tell me about NEAR"
- ✅ Specific: "What is NEAR's consensus mechanism?"
Use Natural Language
You don't need exact syntax. These all work:
Price of Ethereum
How much is ETH?
$ETH
What's Ethereum trading at?
ETH priceUnderstanding Results
Free Features (No Credits)
These features are completely free and don't consume credits:
- Web Search: Private internet searches don't cost credits
- Token Prices: Price lookups and market data are free
- Blockchain Queries: Wallet lookups, transaction details, and NEAR Explorer features
- Token Swaps: Getting swap quotes is free (only execution requires network fees)
AI Features (Credits)
Only AI interactions consume credits based on actual token usage:
- AI Chat: Varies by complexity of your query and response length
- Aura Mode: Costs 2x the normal token-based credit rate
Token Swaps (No Platform Fee)
Zero charges no platform fee for swaps. You only pay the network gas fees and protocol swap fees (e.g., Ref Finance's 0.3%).
When Searches Fail
No Results Found
If a web search returns no results, try:
- Rephrasing your query with different keywords
- Being more specific about what you're looking for
- Checking for typos in addresses or transaction hashes
Wallet or Transaction Not Found
If a NEAR address or transaction lookup fails:
- Verify the address or hash is correct (typos are common)
- Ensure it's a NEAR mainnet address (not testnet)
- Check if the transaction is very recent (may take a few seconds to index)
AI Doesn't Understand
If the AI gives an irrelevant or confused answer:
- Rephrase your question more clearly
- Break complex questions into smaller parts
- Provide more context about what you're trying to learn
Privacy While Searching
Zero protects your privacy during searches:
- No Query Logging: Your searches aren't stored on servers
- IP Protection: Your IP address isn't linked to search queries
- No Tracking: No cookies, fingerprinting, or behavioral profiling
- Session-Only History: Search history exists only in your browser for the current session
When you click "Destroy" or close Zero, all search history is permanently deleted.
